San Jose at Nite

I don’t normally shoot at night, in fact…..I suck at it. But every now and then I get the urge to venture out into the darkness of the night a snap a few photos. I never bring my tripod, and maybe that why my photos suck. I used my Pentax SMCP f1.4 50mm PRIME as I walked around downtown on this mild temp night.

From Mexico

My wife, kids, and mother-in-law all went on a Christmas cruise this year. The brought back a few cute trinkets from their trip. Some of the stops along the way: Colon Panama, Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, Belize, And Cozumel. I used my Pentax SMCP f1.4 50mm PRIME to shoot […]

Wood Figure

This wood figure was a stocking stuffer in my son’s Christmas stocking. The moment I saw it, I knew it would end up in front of my lens. I shot with my SMCP Pentax 50mm F/1.4 lens on a very cloudy and overcast day….hardly any daylight. We’ll see this […]

The Yellow Rose

This yellow rose still covered with rain drops from the previous days rain was the test subject of my shooting today. I started with my SMCP Pentax 50mm F/1.4 PRIME lens then switched to the Quantary/Sigma 28-90mm 1:3.5-5.6 Macro lens to finish a little closer. The sun kept popping […]

Recent Past

I was asked by one of my flickr contacts if I would ever re-post any of the previous photos I had taken with my trusty old Canon S-500 Digital ELPH point-n-shoot here at DigitalDred.com? Most of them are still available for viewing on my flickr page, but just for […]

Fall 2007

Once again Mr. Sun finally came out….late. I was able to fire off a few shots of a leaf or two. It was a bit windy so it was hit-or-miss with my focus. Also, attempting to create a decent bokeh with a short lens is very challenging. I can’t […]

November 14

Just walking around town on my days off from work. It was a bright and sunny day with mostly clear skies. I only used the 18mm-55mm Pentax lens and no tripod. With time at a minimum, I photographed whatever came across my camera lens.

Squirrels….the NEW enemy.

Three day ago I noticed leafs and small branches on the ground under a group of trees my wife had planted. At first I thought it was birds making nest for the winter. But when I discovered a lonely acorn on the ground I knew I had trouble. Squirrels are now pillaging our trees for […]

Odd Flowers

A collection of smelly dead flowers, and peppers on stems. This deathly bunch of flowers graced our table on the rear deck for a Halloween/Birthday party 2 days ago. Why would anyone keep such a dastardly thing? Shot with my Quantary 28-90mm 1:3.5-5.6 Macro lens.

Relic

Yet another rusty dump truck found for sale on the side of the road. This time in Morgan Hill, CA just outside a farmers home sitting on the gravel driveway. Rust, spider webs, leaves, and dirt from years past litter this left-over relic of farm life. It did not […]

Todays Fresh Flowers.

Flowers from Costco offer the best value, and yet another photo opportunity. This bunch of beautiful flowers offered many colors and textures. The sunlight from the kitchen window gave me the perfect lighting for these shots. Once again I used my Quantary 28-90mm 1:3.5-5.6 Macro lens to take these […]

Lazy Cat

Simply put, this is the laziest cat in the world! But she’s also the most cooperative cat when it comes to photos. I could push the lens right up to her face and she could care less. If I didn’t know any better, I would say she like to […]

Venus and the Spider!

My son’s Venus Fly Trap sits on the kitchen counter with very little chance of catching a bug to eat on any given day. But with a little help from me, maybe it might score a meal or two today. I saw this spider on it’s way up the […]

Through My Lens Today: 10-10-07

Snap-n-clean! That was the theme today as I cleaned the house. Taking pictures and I worked my way from one room to the next is not easy. I spent too much time looking for a shot, and not enough time looking for dust-bunnies.

Death Of The Roses.

A vase containing several dead roses is still sitting out back of my house. These were once full of life as it graced out dinner table months ago. Now they sit on the redwood deck out back waiting for someone to take them to their final resting place…..the yard trimmings recycle bin.

Yes! That’s me.

Once again the light was just right entering the window through the blinds. I hand-held the camera as I snapped off a few shots. I like the reflection of the mini blinds off the surface of my glasses. I’m not yet comfortable with self portraits…..but I’m getting there.

Along The Walkway

I pulled out the my new tripod and made these two photos on the walk-way along side our hot tub this morning. Not much sun shinning on the plant life, but the rocks always seem to catch just the right amount of light. My tripod performed like a champ….steady and strong. I sued the […]

Flagship Detroit

I came back from my 3 days off from work just in time to catch the “Flagship Detroit” a vintage American Airlines Douglas DC-3 G102 aircraft. The lighting was not the greatest, but I made due. It’s a once in a life time chance to get up close to […]

Day In September

I started my day with a snap shot of my alarm clock. From that point on I started photographing my day in small bit’s and little chunks. My goal was to keep the camera setting the same with the exception of white balance and a flash here and there. […]

End of summer

I saw this cute little necklace on the master bathroom counter yesterday. For some reason I was reminded about the end of summer. Maybe it reminds me of how we have to away all the summer gear. The end of summer is a sad time for both kids and adults, I’m sure of that. It’s […]
